Pathways School Noida celebrated its first Founders Day on 22nd October 2011 in a unique Style. The event took place at the school premises in Sector 100,Noida. The Chief Guest for the occasion was none other than the Cricketer of the Millennium
Mr. Kapil Dev. The other people present there were the Chairman Mr. Pramod Jain, the three founder directors Mr. Praveen Jain, Mr. Prabhat Jain and Mr. Prashant Jain, the board of Governors Dr. Kiran Datar, Mrs Lata Vaidyanathan and the school director Dr Shalini Advani.
On this Occasion, Mr. Kapil Dev said “I am very honoured and thankful to the Pathways family for inviting me as a chief guest on the joyful occasion of their Founder’s Day. In everybody’s life, school plays an important role. I am sure all the children here are going to be an asset for the country. They are the future & have the power to change the world. All the best and my love, good wishes & blessings are with you all"
The students of Pathways School in Noida performed a theatrical production with the popular protests against corruption in an unusual way. The name given to this production was
‘RATTING OUT’.
Ratting Out is loosely taken from the story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin – but it is set in today’s India. Underlying the story of the city filled with rats was the theme of corruption, how ordinary people suffer and what they can do to battle it.
The Rat King was a cool villain who sings in rap to establish his leadership and the Piper had the charisma of a rock star. The musical was special because the script, music and choreography had been composed by the staff of the school. The origins of the idea for this play came from the musical play Rats by
Gerald P. Murphy.
The song of the corrupt city councillors was a delight:
We’re fat and happy, as happy can be.
That’s the way it’s been through history.
We gladly receive the piles of gold,
All public property is ours to be sold.
Chorus
O it’s fine to be a counselor
To decide and to rule.
The kickbacks are great
Cos I’m not a fool.
We’re all doing it,
So don’t you see
Live well is our motto
In this city
Every age needs a hero, a Batman would do,
Driving his batmobile, giving villains their due.
Superwoman would do fine
Cos we know women can,
They’d get rid of the vermin
That’s plaguing our land.
We need our own hero
The advertisement’s been put
On TV and Radio Mirchi
Someone who’ll clean up for good
We need our own hero
Of corruption we’re tired,
Who’ll get rid of our rats
Yes, that’s what’s desired.
Direction: Kriti Sharma
Music Composition: Ignacio Corral Bermejo & Kamaleshwar Verma
Choreography: Sushant Ummat
Script & Lyrics: Shalini Advani
At the end of the gala event, Mr. Praveen Jain, founder director said, “I would like to thank our Honourable Chief Guest Mr. Kapil Dev for coming and enhancing the celebration with his presence. Also, I would like to thank the school director Dr. Shalini Advani, teachers and children for putting their hard work for a splendid event. Last but not the least I would like to thank the parents for coming and encouraging the children as well as the Pathways Family”.
