The evening of 24 March, 2017 was a special one for students, parents and faculty of Pathways School Gurgaon, as it was time to witness the class of 2017 graduate. The teachers who had offered their guiding light throughout times of academic stress looked on with glowing smiles and warm hearts. The graduating class of 2017 beamed with excitement, ready to spread their wings and the parents of the graduating class among the audience, experienced a wide array of emotions. After years of triumphs and failures, successes and mistakes, tears and joy, it was a long-awaited moment for the class of 2017 to step out of the portals of their alma mater and chart their own courses in life.
The ceremony commenced with the faculty procession lead by the School Director, Capt. Rohit Sen Bajaj and Senior School Principal Mrs. Sangeeta Krishnan Nag. Then the spotlight was focussed on the real cynosures for the day – the graduating class of 2017. Each graduating student walked on to the stage to the upbeat sound of fanfare, and was felicitated with a tilak, Angavastra, the school leaving Diploma, memento and gauna, by Capt. Rohit Sen Bajaj, Mrs. Sangeeta Krishnan Nag, the IBDP co-ordinator, Mrs. Ruchika Kapoor and faculty members respectively.
The Promoter Director, Mr. Prashant Jain in his address referred to this day as a ‘pay day’, as it saw the fruition of all the efforts that had blossomed the students into young adults. The School Director Capt. Rohit Sen Bajaj exhorted the students to meet the challenges of life with grit and determination. Senior School Principal, Mrs. Sangeeta Krishnan Nag added a personal touch, when in her speech, she celebrated the uniqueness of each student of the graduating class and reminisced about some landmark moments associated with their school life. Quoting Dr Kalam, she urged them to find the space in which to invest their intellectual and creative capital for if they wished to shine like the sun, they would have to burn like the sun.
One of the highlights of the evening was the release of the Yearbook La Dolce Vita an effort by grade 11 students to give concrete form to the memories made by the graduating students during their school life. This Yearbook is the first ever such memorabilia from students of grade 11 to grade 12.
During the Awards Ceremony, the graduating students were awarded for excellence in various subjects, for exhibiting critical thinking in Theory of Knowledge, spirit of enquiry in the Extended Essay, for embodying all the qualities of the IB Learner’s Profile etc. The most coveted Valedictorian award and the Smt. Pushpa Jain award was awarded to Avni Gupta and Tanvi Kapoor respectively.
Mr. Ravi Kapoor, father of Tanvi Kapoor, Smt Pushpa Jain Awardee, in his speech expressed his profound sense of satisfaction for having taken the decision to admit his daughter to Pathways School Gurgaon and lauded the role of the school in being the wind beneath the wings of his daughter, in making her soar heights of success and realize her potential to the maximum.
The atmosphere became resplendent with a very traditional and luminous ceremony of the diya exchange, where the graduating students passed on lighted diyas to the students of grade eleven, representing the passing over the legacy of light, energy and knowledge. The Graduation hat tassel flip by the graduating class of 2017 and musical performances drew curtains on the ceremony. Everyone left carrying some fond memories, that will undoubtedly remain etched in their minds for long.
Following this, everyone proceeded to the school lawns for a sumptuous dinner. Besides the soft breeze, starry skies, delectable food and confabulation, the dinner experience was made memorable by the warm and hospitable grade 11 students serving the graduating students, their families and faculty members. Everyone left carrying fond memories, that will undoubtedly remain etched in their minds for long.
