New & Noteworthy
‘Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition’.
Weeks, months, and years of incessant efforts and endurance culminated with the IBMYP Graduation Day at Middle School. As the young graduates proceeded to yet another promising turn in their lives, we all recollected the nostalgic moments to celebrate the day of triumph. It was the day to marvel our 128 MYP Pathwaysians with all our mentors who toiled to shape our future. It was the day of our IBMYP Graduation Ceremony. On Wednesday, 12th of April 2017, we commemorated the Graduation of the first batch of IB MYP Year 5 at Pathways World School, Aravali.
Stephen Hawking once said that ‘Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change’. Graduation is about change as well, before new beginnings. The ceremony commenced with recollections of our MYP journey, an odyssey at times but a delightful culmination spearheading to the road not taken, but with utmost confidence ready to traverse the miles ahead. This was followed by ‘Thanksgiving’ in order to honour our mentors who imbibed in us the true motto of life – Learn, Work, Play, Think, LIVE. We also welcomed our esteemed guests of honour, Mr. Aditya Ghosh, President & Director Indigo Aviation Ltd Indigo Airlines along with his better half Ms. Manavi Ghosh, and Mr. Ronesh Puri, Managing Director of Executive Access as well as Ms. Neeta Puri with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp of wisdom.
The much coveted Awards distribution began with the prestigious Chairman’s Special Award embraced by Aaryam Choudhary for representation of the attributes of IB Learner Profile; followed by 8 special Recognition Awards distributed by Mr. Puri. Amidst the awards distribution ceremony, the performances by our talented Middle School choir invigorated all. Dr. Sarvesh Naidu welcomed the proud parents and grandparents and referred to the 1st MYP class of 2017 as the ‘numero uno’. Director’s Award was awarded to Mansha Kapur and Shaina Suri for living up to the school motto with their consistent academic performance and display of exemplary values. The awards distribution resumed with the distribution of 8 Special Recognition Awards. Further, Academic Achievement Awards and Pathways Academic Certificates were presented to the graduating students. Thereafter, Mr. Puri addressed and congratulated our students for their worthy achievements as well as shared the importance of a clear choice to be made in life.
The immaculate performances of the western choir and dance were further followed by Academic Achievement Awards and Pathways Academic Certificates given away by Mrs. and Mr. Ghosh respectively. As names were called and students walked upon the stage, a sense of pride, responsibility & happiness were evident on the faces of parents, teachers, and students alike. Post the rendition by the Hindustani Choir, Mr. Aditya Ghosh addressed and inspired our young graduates to follow their dreams. Interwoven, with these were the PULSE Awards and the International Global Citizen’s Awards. In PWS, the PULSE Program was developed & introduced in Middle School, in August 2008, & has evolved and expanded considerably over the years. Currently, the PULSE Program exists from K to 10 in PWS.
The International Global Citizen’s Award & Multiple Natures are other related programs that were introduced to the students, through the PULSE Program over the years, to further enrich a student’s life while in Pathways World School.
The PULSE Award Program which has been developed & introduced as of August 2016, attempts to capture a Pathwaysian’s journey through 5 years in the Middle School. A total of 26 students received the IGCA- Gold Award and 36 of them received the PULSE Award from this batch.
It was finally time for the MYP Valedictorian’s Award. The proud recipient of the award was Rishit Jain for his sustained and earnest efforts throughout his MYP journey. This title is awarded as an appreciation for participation and exceeding expectations both in academic as well as co-curricular engagements in diverse disciplines. Well done Rishit! Later, Kashvi Sarup’s solo performance of a song rendition elated young minds.
Mr. Sumit Dargan traversed down the lane of memories reminiscing fond recollections while invigorating them towards their bigger goals. Ms. Monika Bajaj delivered the ‘Vote of Thanks’ thus bringing the evening to its conclusion. The parents, teachers and students were full of delightful experiences of this momentous event.
At the end of 5 years of MYP, the new graduates have rich experiences & memories. For journeys that begin today, the lesson they take back from Pathways can be best described with a quote from Robert Frost ‘The woods are lovely, dark and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep’. As we solemnized the Graduation Day, Grade 10 students still await their e-assessments to commence from 8th May to 19th May, 2017 with a promise of fetch laurels all through. Pathways World School, Aravali wishes you all the very best.
