Make Love not Scars -The book Launch Pathways Aravali
It was a day filled with inspiration and emotion as Pathways World School hosted the launch of its Alumna, Ria Sharma's book "Make Love not Scars".
The auditorium was packed with Students and Staff on 19th February to witness and understand Ria's incredible journey as the voice of acid attack survivors in India. The launch began with a documentary by a Pathwaysian on Ria's journey as the Founder of her Organisation "Make Love not Scars". The recital of a touching poem by a Pathways teacher and a soulful, inspirational song by another left every eye moist with emotion. Add to that a thrilling instrumental musical performance by the Music Department and a beautiful dance performance by the 5th and 6th Graders and the Auditorium was buzzing with inspiration.
Ria has received a multitude of awards and honours from International and National entities recognising her work and commitment. Pathways World School, Aravali also added the International Global Citizen's Award to Ria's repertoire of achievements. Our students also contributed handsomely through their charitable activities to Ria's organisation.
Ria was accompanied by four acid attack survivors. These brave women, who have risen from the ashes like the phoenix itself, shared their heart-wrenching stories on stage with absolute confidence. Ria's Organisation "Make Love not Scars" is fighting against the open sale of acid and is a halfway home for acid attack survivors. The Organisation provides the survivors with medical support, shelter, vocational training and a sense of belongingness and tons of love.
Pathways World School feels immense pride in Ria's work and urges the readers to contribute to this cause, monetarily or in kind.
Let's make love not scars.
