Centre Stage – a specialized speech and drama training program

Centre Stage is an after-school Speech and Drama enrichment program that helps students to develop and strengthen life skills to be successful and happy in personal and professional lives. The program draws inspiration from the “Speech and Communications” program of Trinity College London. It provides the students with an opportunity to participate in the Speech and Drama examination of Trinity college. It is aligned to the IB practices and Pathways’ approach to teaching and learning.

Through a process of first reading good literature and poetry and then transforming reading through creative drama into a personal, experiential engagement with age-relevant issues of life, children are encouraged to be Innovative Thinkers, Creative Problem Solvers, Informed Decision Makers & Leaders.

This program provides an opportunity to enhance communication skills through dramatic play which focusses on voice modulation, voice projection, pronunciation, pace, pitch, stress, pause, and intonation. Students engage in Group Discussions, Mock Interviews and Negotiations to build self-confidence, increased critical thinking and public speaking skills. Circle time, physical and vocal warm-up, loud reading, storytelling, drama project, and brainstorming are an integral parts of a regular session. The sessions are conducted across all branches of Pathways schools.
