“Have courage and be kind. For where there is kindness there is goodness, and where there is goodness there is magic.” - Cinderella
The first week of November was dedicated to celebrating gratitude and kindness at Pathways World School. Throughout the week, students of Middle School extended their thankfulness and promised kindness in return. Learned to choose love over hate, light over darkness, and compassion over judgment, they looked forward to optimism and warmth.
For one of the activities, students assembled in the amphitheater, carrying the beautiful thought of kindness in their hearts and minds. As enthusiasm rang in the atmosphere, students had to look for articles exhibiting kindness, cut it out and paste it on the colored sheet to create a collage. All focused on the newspaper, students scanned all articles, following the words with their finger. They learned about various acts of kindness happening around them and were inspired to follow the examples and drive a change. Some beautiful and thought-provoking collages were created, showcasing the acts of humanity across the world, to make this planet a better place.
The next day, after absorbing their findings of the previous day, another short activity was conducted which drew everyone’s attention to the quality of kindness within all. Students were handed post-it notes, in which they had to share their ideas on the magical word. The start scribbling ideas and the notes were soon filled with a range of different opinions, all summing down to this concept of care. These thoughts were later pasted on a piece of cloth, exhibiting the innocence and freshness of thoughts.
Truly an act to celebrate, realizations dawned upon everyone about the term remaining amiss in the society due to the rush in our lives. As serenity echoed, a zephyr of positivity brought a glow on everyone’s faces.
