As a prelude to our Rhyme Time Day, we had a mid-week blast celebrating “World Read Aloud Day” with our Crayon Reading Challenge.
After writing letters to the Crayons, this time our students stepped into their shoes and became Crayons themselves. Our learners wholeheartedly decorated their crayon hats displaying their individual creativity. Then our cute little Crayons were welcomed into the Crayon-themed Atrium which beamed with energy and the vibrance of vivid colors. Our atrium was transformed into a cozy reading arena with an abundance of reading choices, from picture books to novels.
But our Pathways Crayons are not ordinary Crayons, they were not distracted by the bright colors and buzz in atmosphere. They knew they had a challenge in hand. There was an inter-class challenge to read and comprehend as many books as possible together. To keep up with the competitive spirit, at various points learners were rewarded with stickers after cumulatively reading a certain number of books.
Our learners worked together as a beautiful and strong team of smart readers to prove that Crayons do read.Students explored the books kept around in the atrium and demonstrated a strong sense of fellowship by helping each other read and understand.
The students thoroughly enjoyed this unforgettable experience celebrating “World Read Aloud Day”. The event was an absolute successful evident by the bright smiles all over and excellent sportsmanship displayed in all classes. We can’t wait for the next World Read Aloud Day!
