Grandparents are truly special!
We sincerely thank all the grandparents for gracing us with their presence and making the ‘Grandparent’s day’ celebrations unforgettable. All the students from Pre-Nursery through Grade-1 were looking forward to this day and were exuberant to host the grandparents in the classrooms. Grandparents proudly wore the 'Greatest Grandparent' badges that were made and gifted to them by their own grandchildren.
To kick things off, the Pre-Nursery students narrated a beautiful story of the ‘Three Little Pigs’ while the Nursery students created a duet self-portrait. KG created a class collage using leaves, twigs, and flowers that were collected by the children. Grade -1 paid a tribute to their grandparents by an energetic and wonderful song and dance performance.
The children of all classes were completely engrossed in entertaining their Grandparents through fun activities. Pre-Nursery created houses using hay, straw and sponge dabbing. Nursery students created personalized cards for their grandparents who in return ascribed thoughtful messages for their little grandchildren. KG students and grandparents assembled family picture puzzles and completed portraits of their grandchildren as souvenirs for this day. Grade-1 students created masks resembling the grandparents using ‘paper plates’ and also displayed their academic rigor by doing a tally marks exercise on the ‘handshakes’, ‘hugs’ and ‘smiles’ they received from their grandparents during the day.
We then had a session of flameless cooking where mouthwatering sandwiches, nachos chaat and other dishes were prepared and enjoyed by the children and their grandparents. The Grandparents were up on their feet dancing with their grandchildren, which made the event more significant and memorable. They were comfortable engaging themselves in activities like storytelling, constructing, reading and playing tambola.
Students later asked their Grandparents about the ‘fun things’ they did when they themselves were children. The nostalgia and emotion were evident in the voice of the grandparents as they recited the anecdotes from their childhood. The Grandparents highlighted the most attractive qualities of their Grandchildren while giving them valuable advice on what to improve. There were ‘tears of joy’ and ‘smiles’ throughout the celebration of this lovely event. After this overwhelming yet enjoyable day, everyone clicked ‘happy’ pictures at the photobooth.
The Grandparents and the Grandchildren will both cherish this day for a very long time!!
