The theme and the concept of Peace Day & Gandhi Jayanti Celebration this year was “Compassion & Kindness”.
To mark the global occasion of The United Nations (UN) International Day of Peace, celebrations commenced on, Tuesday, 21stSeptember’21, based on the theme “Recovering better for an equitable and sustainable world”. Primary School students watched a short video on "Peace Around the World". Students expressed their views through writing messages on Peace.
On Friday, 1st October, students participated in grade-level activities, which included finger painting and finger puppets by the Early Years. PYP 1 engaged in a Word Search activity. PYP 2 created their Treasure Box of Kindness to demonstrate that kindness exists in all forms around them. PYP 3, reflected on the experiences, hopes, and dreams through the lens of Gratitude that becomes the foundation and support system in our lives. PYP 4 & 5, collaborated at grade levels to discover and find solutions towards the issues that exist and call for attention around them.
To culminate the celebration on Saturday, 02ndOctober’21, students and their families participated in a Global Event called “Build a Global Fire”, to forge the will and commitment to keep the fires of humanity burning brightly long into the future for all life to come.
The times have been tough for many and in the face of this pandemic, we tried bringing hope to help everyone recover, build resilience, and transform for the betterment of humanity by spreading compassion and kindness.
