Beyond Academics

Music, Dance and Theater

"They teach you that there is a boundary line to music…but how can there be a limit to an art?"

One famous musician said these same words many years back. Today, our daily lives are filled with limitations and rules. One place, probably one place in the entire universe, where there are no rules and regulations is in the world of music. Pathways wants students to be able to express their own ideas, to be able to live in their own world for some time, to be able to learn what kind of a person they really are from the inside.

To do this, we provide a variety of instruments for the students to play with and be able to learn the power of sound and music in their lives.

The Music Room is equipped with a set of Yamaha keyboards; each keyboard having two pairs of headphones so that students can work together without disturbing others. Students learn to find their way around the keyboard, learn to read simple music and perform in front of their classmates. Here Umang Prithani and Sameer Aggarwal of Grade 6 are composing their own melody based on the structure of 'Twinkle, Twinkle, little Star'.

We provide various instruments for the students including but not limited to:

  • Guitars -- {western classical, blues and rock guitar styles including lead, rhythm and bass guitars and Theory}
  • Drums -- {basic styles to advanced level styles from waltz funk rock and jazz styles and theory}
  • Piano -- {Royal School of Music syllabus from grades 1 to 8 and also contemporary styles and theory}
  • Keyboards -- {from basics to advanced levels in all keyboard styles and theory}
  • Vocals -- {western styles and contemporary styles}
  • Brass - Trumpets, Saxaphone
  • Violin
  • Tabla
  • Sitar
  • Tanpura

The expert Music teacher guides the students through the music experience. Music is often referred to as a dark tunnel, and to get to the other side - the side with some light, you need to cross many obstacles- and our teachers and staff members are always there to get a student through the tunnel. Music in Pathways is absolutely a thing to remember, it calms a person's mind and the students get to experience and touch the boundaries of the world.

5 of our students have completed the stage 5.
