On 18 October 2019, Pathways School Gurgaon turned a new chapter by completing nine glorious years and making stride into the decade year. It was a day to celebrate togetherness, trust and tenacity. It was not only a day to look back at the past and bask in its glory but also a day to look at the future with a hope of fulfilling promises and dreams.
For Diploma Program students, the day commenced with an assembly in the senior school atrium. The Senior School Principal, Ms. Sangeeta Nag explained the significance of the occasion. She asked the students and members of the faculty to think of the ways in which Pathways has enriched their life or to remember any person or event that has left an indelible impression on their lives. This moment of reflection connected everyone with their own selves and made them realize that Pathways has touched their lives profoundly. It has provided them with trusting friends, avenues to hone their skills and talents, opportunities to have the courage of conviction and take risks, freedom to make mistakes, trust that there would be a word of comfort when they fall and a promise of hope to begin afresh.
One of the most cherished traditions embodying the true spirit of Pathways School Gurgaon, the Pangat symbolises equality in all spheres. Pangat literally means a same row. Pangat is a great equaliser. All differences were forgotten at the pangat as the community comprising members of the senior management, faculty members, members of support staff were all seated on the floor and enjoyed traditional Indian meal of puri, sabzi, choley, halwa and ice cream, served by the Diploma Program students. The students accorded warm welcome to each member by anointing their forehead with tilaka and greeting them with namaste which signifies recognition of divinity in each individual and bowing to the divine in everyone. The lunch hall reverberated with joy and the atmosphere was one of prayerful celebration.
This yearly celebration in the school reminds everyone how the school community supports each other in all possible ways believing in the dictum- “If you want to go far. Go together.” Many milestones have been reached and many more lie ahead, which can be reached with daring, diligence and determination. Abhay Virk who has been studying in the school since it was founded in 2010 said, “The Raising Day holds a very special place in my heart. It takes me on a walk down the memory lane and reminds me of the various life lessons that I have learnt in the precincts of the school. I will always remain indebted to school for contributing to my growth and success.” For Year one students of the Diploma Programme, who served lunch to the school community for the very first time, it was a humbling experience. Saira Gualti said “Serving the lunch today made me put other people’s needs before mine. It helped me to strengthen my relationship with others.”
