The artists see what others only catch a glimpse of” said Leonardo Da Vinci.
Mr. Gulzar embodied this very quote by writing a play on the life of APJ Abdul Kalam. A name that all of us have heard of, but never through the lens of Mr. Gulzar. The play ‘’Parvaaz Ka Aaghaaz’ captured the life of APJ Abdul Kalam including all major events in his life from low points to high points. It was written and performed beautifully to honour the great APJ Abdul Kalam and of course, show the hardships that he went through before his rise to success as the President of India.
Seven students from MYP and DP got this wonderful opportunity to witness this amazing rendition in the Sri Fort Auditorium New Delhi on the 7th of September. The performance was truly a treat to the eyes, with heart-touching dialogues, colourful costumes, melodious music and so much more. All the elements were tied together perfectly and made it hard for the audience to look away even once during the 55-minute run time. The performance was entertaining, emotional, and inspiring in so many ways. The common theme in the production was hope, where the story ultimately narrated that one should never give up. One underlying sub-theme talked about open-mindedness and never restricting ourselves because of religion. It was an honour for the students to be sharing a setting with Mr. Gulzar himself.
