Our PYP 1 and 2 enjoyed a very engaging story session conducted by Ms. Shobha Tharoor Srinivasan, a renowned author who presented her latest picture book, Parvati the Elephant’s Very Important Day. Narrating a day in the life of a temple elephant, this intriguing story was a reminder of the beauty and majesty of elephants and their value to our world. Through this story we were reminded that elephants are regarded for their grandeur and intelligence, yet highly threatened to go extinct. Ms Shobha’s story has inspired all of us to spread awareness about conserving this giant and gentle animal.
It was fun to learn the words for ‘elephant’ in different languages like Hathi in Hindi, Gaja in Sanskrit , Dà xiàng in Mandarin, Slon in Russian and many more. Students were thrilled to learn new vocabulary being introduced during the story.
It was our pleasure to have Ms. Shobha Tharoor Srinivasan and we look forward to more books from her, to delight and enlighten our students.
