The climate is changing. Can we?
Climate change is the most daunting environmental challenge that our world is facing currently. Keeping it’s severity in mind, the current generation of learners need to be cognizant on how to mitigate the effects of this climate change and innovate climate smart solutions in order to shape a green world. With this objective of creating a change, The SDG club at Pathways Noida has joined forces with millions of students across 107 countries, in a six week long Climate Action Project.
With the ongoing learning of climate change, some learners researched about the effects of climate change nationally and locally. This research involved understanding the effects of climate change on the flora and fauna, weather patterns, and human lifestyle trends. The other students, thoroughly enjoyed conducting interviews of their relatives across different generations, recording videos and sharing their experience through an online platform.
Based on the aforementioned learning, students exchanged their knowledge with students from Sancta Maria Junior School, South Africa, and Heritage International School, Chi?inau, Moldova. Students were able to understand how different the climate patterns are in their respective countries and they shared few solutions to protect our climate. After thorough discussion, student shared few solutions such as carpooling, taking bicycles for shorter distances, change in lifestyle, planting trees, reusing and recycling materials. The session also included an interactive quiz between students of the different schools. These were thoroughly engaging and interactive sessions that brought the students of different countries together on a similar platform.
