As we continue to grapple with this ever-changing, upside-down world, this week students were happy to interact with Children’s Author Lauren Kerstein
During her virtual visit, Lauren read one of her bestselling story ‘Rosie the Dragon and Charlie, say Good night’, she spoke briefly about how a book is made, talked about a story behind the story, lead students through a few writing strategies, and talked about living courageously, like Rosie the Dragon. This presentation geared students to look forward to being able to create their own books if they have a love for reading and writing. Students were mesmerised with her story telling session on ‘You've Got this! Making Waves with Rosie the Dragon and Charlie and were engrossed with her props like the characters from the story, Night light lamp, wizard hat, magic dust, and rock stones. She ended it with a bubble shower for students, it was such a wonderful moment for all to capture.
Like a true author Lauren set some writing goals that were simple: Read voraciously, embrace feedback, grow each day, work hard, be passionate and write courageously. She left our children with a lot to think about and look forward to developing love for reading and writing.
