On 20th August, 44 Visual Art students from Grade 9 to Grade 12 and 6 staff members visited KCC art gallery and National Gallery of Modern Art.
The first visit was to KCC art gallery for an art exhibition called Blueprint by Sayatan Samanta. The theme of this exhibition was the agrarian crisis, which was explained in detail in the introduction at the start of the exhibition. The atmosphere of this exhibition was very sombre and made us ponder on the large agrarian crisis and about how all farms are being taken over by large urban spaces.
It was a great opportunity to get to visit this exhibition and witness great art in real life.
The second and main visit was to the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi.
The Art trip was very successful. Students enjoyed the exhibitions and discussed their thought with Exhibition curators. All students worked on their worksheets which was linked with their unit plans and visual art curriculum. Our students also met and interacted with the Director General of the National Gallery of Modern Art Mr Adwaita Charan Garanayak and Director of Korean Culture Centre Mr. Kim Kum- Pyoung at NGMA.
