The students of Grade 5 were invited by Lavina Baldota- an Arts and Culture maven, to an exhibition held at Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts on 31st January 2020. The Students witnessed a display of works by various well-known artists depicting their inspiration from Gandhi’s life. This trip was organised to expose them to different art forms and ways in which artists express themselves. This helped the Students develop a meaningful connection with their unit of Inquiry on- How We Express Ourselves.
Various artefacts, hand-woven fabric art and media visual art led to thought-provocations and understanding of how artists get inspired and inspire others. They focused on feelings, emotions and messages conveyed through art.
Navkirat Sodhi- a writer and a poet, was present at the exhibition, and her inspiring quotes were displayed all around the museum. She had a discussion with our Students and recited a beautiful poem she had written for ‘Bapu’. She kindly answered their queries related to poetry and surely left a positive impact on each of them.
The field trip was worth all the effort and will enable our Students to take the unit-related inquiry further in a more mindful manner.
