In the gathering dusk of an April Saturday, the mechanics of the imminent Graduation Ceremony were underway in the amphitheatre – concealed by the soft haze of surreality, blanketing the graduates and their parents. They milled into the school and lingered in its corners for slightly longer than usual. After two years of bargaining with the pandemic, the amphitheatre finally brimmed with conversation and laughter shared amongst all the people it could hold. On the 16th of April, Pathways World School’s Batch of 2022– who made the most of these two years of half-living– graduated in an atmosphere of unrestricted celebration.
The halls of Takshila were filled with excited chatter as the graduating class of 2022 put on their gowns and cherished the last moments of their DP journey. An ascending thrill and anticipation simmered amongst the graduates as the class was ready for their final yet glorious walk across the school.
Parents seated themselves in the arena with a sense of pride and gazed at the commencement of the graduation walk as applause spread through the campus. At that moment, the graduating class of 2022 stood together on the stage for the penultimate time in their lives.
The traditional lighting of the lamp, the Saraswati Vandana, and the invocation dance set a serene aura and evoked a sense of optimism as each student stood on this threshold, ready to leap from one phase of their lives to another.
The awards ceremony commenced with the usual ritual of acknowledging the Class’s high achievers. Unnathi Utpal Kumar, a quintessential IB learner and the embodiment of Pathways’ ethos, was announced as the proud recipient of the Chairman’s award. She was also the recipient of the Valedictorian award. The Pushpa Jain Memorial award was given to the ‘Nightingale of the Batch’, Arushi Pant.
In an intermission between awards, a nostalgic short film was shown about 12 students who completed their entire academic journey at Pathways i.e. from PYP1 to DP. A short video by the Clicking Club was also shown giving glimpses into the DP2 students’ journey in School.
The address by the School Director, Ms Mehta was full of motivation and encouragement, emphasizing the students to have faith in their abilities.
Various eminent awards, such as the School Director’s Award, Salutatorian Award, Principal's award were also presented to the students.
The event had enthralling music and spell binding dance performances and the wise words and reflections of the outgoing Presidents Ansh Bhansali and Arushi Pant added to the marination of rich emotions of the Ceremony. The Senior School Principal added the inside jokes between the teachers and students, especially during the virtual classes, to her speech which had the audience laughing!
